The event "Tanabe Chikuunsai IV x B-OWND - Bamboo Installation - Gather -" will be held at Creative Meets, the headquarters of Tanseisha Co., Ltd. Bamboo craftsman Tanabe Chikuunsai IV will be invited to hold a talk event on Thursday, September 13th, and an installation work will be exhibited from Friday, September 14th.
Since May 2019, we have been operating the platform "B-OWND" for Japanese arts and crafts, aiming to broaden the scope of activities of artists and craftspeople who are the "bearers of culture" in Japan and contribute to the promotion of Japanese culture and arts. Tanabe Chikuunsai IV also participated in this initiative, which made this event possible.
The installation will be open to the public for four days, from September 14th (Sat), 15th (Sun), 21st (Sat), and 22nd (Sun). On September 13th (Fri), the day before the general opening, there will be a talk event featuring Tanabe Chikuunsai IV, Akimoto Yuji, director of the University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts and Nerima Art Museum, and AI developer and art collector Takeda Hideki (Director CTO of FRONTEO Inc. and director of the Behavioral Information Science Institute).
This event is part of a series of events being held mainly in Tokyo in conjunction with the "Bamboo Craft Masterpieces: New York's Abbey Collection - Collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art" (venue: Crafts Gallery, National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo). During this period, our venue will be the only place where you can see the installation work by Tanabe Chikuunsai IV.
We look forward to seeing you all there.
