Forming a capital and business alliance with HARTi to promote the expansion of artworks into real space using NFTs

  • News Release

Tanseisha has invested in HARTi Inc. (headquarters: MINATO CITY, Tokyo / President and Chief Executive Ofcer CEO: Yoshida Yuya / hereinafter referred to as HARTi), a company that operates a production business for contemporary artists, and will promote the expansion of art works into real space through the use of non-fungible tokens (hereinafter referred to as NFTs *).

Through this partnership, the two companies aim to build new infrastructure in the art field, such as by promoting joint planning of art projects that link real space with NFTs to create new experiential value, and by collaborating with artists participating in "B-OWND," an art and crafts platform provided by Tanseisha, and HARTi's contemporary artist production functions.

Tanseisha will promote the creation of new experiential value in spaces through the use of digital technology, while also creating opportunities for more people to enjoy art up close. In addition, by connecting artists, space operators, and collectors (owners of artworks) in real space through NFTs, we will build an ecosystem that generates revenue while participating in the creation of spaces through art, and promote sustainable urban development through culture and the arts.
*Non-fungible token (NFT): A non-fungible token that can create the value of unique, "one-of-a-kind data." By utilizing blockchain technology, digital data that cannot be copied can be created.

News Release
Tanseisha Forms Capital and Business Alliance with HARTi to Promote the Expansion of Artworks into Real Space Using NFTs
- Linking spatial businesses, artists, and collectors with space and technology to promote urban development through culture and the arts -

Background of the initiative

The currently rapidly expanding NFT field is characterized by its non-fungible and unique value that can be easily proven. The "uniqueness" and "digital convenience" of the NFTs allow for the circulation of ownership at low cost and with flexibility, making them highly compatible with the art and entertainment fields.
Tanseisha has long been promoting the creation of rich spaces by incorporating art into the spaces it manages, such as large commercial facilities, Showrooms, showrooms, and offices. In addition, since launching the art and craft platform "B-OWND" in 2019, Tanseisha has been issuing blockchain-based NFT digital certificates when works are sold. Therefore, by collaborating with HARTi, which operates a production business for contemporary artists and has the know-how to maximize the value of artists' IP (intellectual property) using data analysis and technology and build a distribution system, Tanseisha has decided to promote "NFT solutions for spaces" that deploy NFTs linked to artworks in real spaces.

Future developments

When introducing artworks into space creation, Tanseisha will sell the ownership of the artworks as NFTs, creating a new ecosystem in which artists and space operators can expect to receive a portion of the circulation amount as royalties in perpetuity. In addition, consumers who are collectors of artworks will participate in the creation of the space by holding the NFTs of the artworks installed in the space, contributing to urban development through culture and the arts, and the transfer of ownership of the NFTs will support the activities of the artists who created the works as a return. The promotion of the spread of art in spaces through this "NFT solution for spaces" will contribute to increasing the value of the space through art by connecting space operators, artists, and collectors in real space through NFTs, leading to the promotion of culture and art in Japan. In addition, by linking with HARTi's artist production function, we will utilize technologies such as data analysis and SNS to increase awareness of B-OWND participating artists and their works, and develop spaces through art x DX.

Comments from the two companies

Seiichiro Yoshida, General Manager, Business Development Division, TANSEISHA Co., Ltd. Planning and Development Center
As the COVID-19 pandemic calls into question the meaning of spaces where people gather, we hope to create real experiential value for NFTs through this partnership, creating new possibilities for spaces as a device that generates content that draws people in on a sustainable basis and economic value. Together with HARTi, we will develop spaces that combine art and digital transformation, and build new infrastructure that will support the activities of artists in collaboration with B-OWND. We aim to create a world where urban development and culture flourish through sustainable art.

□ Yuya Yoshida President and Chief Executive Ofcer of HARTi Corporation
Since our founding, we have been working on the production business for contemporary artists, with the corporate philosophy of "creating an economy that circulates sensibility." In particular, when I studied abroad in London, England for an extended period of time, I experienced firsthand how art is an intimate part of urban life, and how it has enriched the soul of city residents. I believe that this partnership will create an important opportunity to increase opportunities to come into contact with art in urban life in Japan. Together with Tanseisha, we will work to create a new "economic sphere" centered on art.
