Tansei Institute Co., Ltd., a member of the Tanseisha Group, has published Museum Data No. 82, which contains recommendations for museums of the future.
"Museum Data" is an information magazine for museum professionals that has been published by the Tansei Research Institute since April 1987. Useful information on museums is extracted, analyzed, edited, and published on the "Museum Data" website, a dedicated museum information site, from information collected through a network of museums and related institutions both in Japan and overseas.
In our latest issue, No. 82, published on November 15th, five authors contributed essays on museums of the future, in light of the current situation in which discussions about museums in Japan are becoming more active, and in order to lead to a report on museums in the 2020s that will show new ways of doing museums while responding to the spread of COVID-19. We also plan to publish a special edition of No. 82 in the near future, looking back on museum trends in the 2010s.
As Japan's only specialist think tank on museums, the Tansei Institute will continue to gather information on the future of museums that support "cultural power" and disseminate the results of its research.
