IM is holding the "Museum Character Awards 2022"

IM [Internet Museum] (hereinafter referred to as "IM"), a comprehensive museum information site operated by Tanseisha, is holding the "Museum Character Awards 2022" from July 26th to determine the most popular museum character in Japan.

The Museum Character Awards is an annual event that has been held since 2010 with the aim of deepening interest in museums, and introduces characters created by Museums science museums, zoos, and aquariums. People vote online for their favorite character to determine the most popular museum character in Japan that year. Every year, the awards are introduced in newspapers, on television, online, and other media, and people are called upon to vote at their local museums, creating a great deal of excitement.

This year marks the 13th time the event has been held, and unique characters from 63 museums have been entered.

Two new awards

In addition to the Grand Prix, two new awards have been established for 2022.

Newcomer Award

Among the 21 characters participating in this year's Museum Character Awards for the first time, the character that receives the most votes will be awarded the Newcomer Award.

・SNS Award

Starting in August, IM will introduce each participating character on Twitter, and the character with the most "likes" will be awarded the "SNS Award." Those who "like" the tweet will be entered into a drawing to win museum goods provided by the participating museums.

How to vote Visit the "Museum Character Awards" page to vote for your favorite character.
・You can also post messages of support to the characters.
・Each person can vote once per day.

2021 Results

In 2021, Meiji University Museum's "Meijiro" won the Grand Prix with 14,049 votes. The Grand Prix museum was presented with a plaque and featured in an article within IM.
