Received the "2022 Good Design Award"

  • Notice

We are pleased to announce that the Ecoru Togoshi Shinagawa City Environmental Learning and Exchange Facility and the Kobe Sannomiya Hankyu Building, which we helped create, have won the 2022 Good Design Award (sponsored by the Japan Design Promotion Organization, a public interest incorporated foundation).

The award is the only comprehensive design evaluation and recommendation system in Japan, and the symbol of the award, the "G Mark," is widely known as a symbol of good design. We would like to express our gratitude to our customers who gave us this opportunity, as well as to everyone who cooperated with us throughout the various processes.

Going forward, we will continue to keep in mind the perspective of those who will use the space and work to create rich spaces that can contribute to our customers' businesses.

Good Design Award 2022

"Ecol Togoshi"

【overview】
Ecoru Togoshi is located within the lush Togoshi Park and is a facility that allows students to approach the global environment from various perspectives and connect it to their learning.
The building incorporates various environmentally friendly technologies, such as solar power generation and geothermal air conditioning, and is the first public building in Tokyo to receive the Nearly ZEB certification from the Building Energy Efficiency Labeling System (BELS). The building itself is also a learning experience for the environment.
The facility's primary target audience is "children who will create the future," and we have planned environmental learning exhibits that emphasize physical experience and a building that will support them, so that they will develop an interest in the environment and take action on their own. Exhibits include a "large-scale Video display" that allows visitors to experience the relationship between everyday life and the natural environment through dynamic Video.
A "community lounge" has also been installed as a place for relaxation and interaction. The interior materials use a lot of wood from municipalities that have interactions and partnerships with the ward, and combined with the lush greenery of the view, it creates a place of peace and relaxation.
The exterior design makes use of the trees within Togoshi Park, and is designed to continue from the gate to the adjacent park. By keeping the building height low, the building blends in with the entire park.

"Kobe Sannomiya Hankyu Building"

【overview】
This project involves rebuilding the new station building ("Kobe Sannomiya Hankyu Building") adjacent to Hankyu Kobe-Sannomiya Station, and renovating Kobe-Sannomiya Station and the stores under the elevated station. The complex will include a station, commercial facilities, offices, and a hotel. In order to revitalize the area around Kobe-Sannomiya Station, the plan was created to create a lively atmosphere that will permeate the town. The existing structure of the elevated railway tracks has been reinforced and will continue to be used, while creating a unified design.
The lower floors follow the detailed decorative form of the former Kobe Hankyu Building, which was beloved by local residents from before the war but was damaged and demolished in the earthquake. The higher floors have a simple volume that contrasts with the lower floors, and the deeply carved design gives the area a change of expression through shadows. The station concourse and the stores under the elevated railway are all based on the keyword "retro modern," and a unified color and design has been developed.
