We are co-hosting the "Look! Listen! Touch! A Reading Exhibition that Feels with Your Body/Apple Project"

  • Notice

Tanseisha is co-hosting a special exhibition called "Look! Listen! Touch! Reading with your body" (sponsored by Ringo Project/NPO People Design Institute) at the Mikka Picture and Word Library (operated by Trek Co., Ltd.), a children's library facility established as a public-private partnership project, from Thursday, March 14th to Wednesday, April 24th.
This time, Tanseisha endorsed the purpose of "Books You Can Feel with Your Body (Barrier-Free Books/Apple Shelf)" by the NPO People Design Institute, which is working on a project that aims to provide everyone with the opportunity to come into contact with accessible books and make the way we read more diverse, and was in charge of planning, Design, Layout, Production, Construction of the exhibition to introduce the "Apple Shelf."

An apple tree sign that is visually fun and easy to understand.

Follow the soft "tactile signatures" in the shape of an apple leaf.

The chirping of birds will guide you to the location of the entrance.

We will introduce you to the "Five Senses Signs that Make Your Heart Flutter."

At Tanseisha, primarily through Design Center, we are working to develop "heart-throbbing five-sense signs" for people who find conventional signs inconvenient, in order to create social interaction spaces that are easy for everyone to live in, regardless of whether they have a disability, gender, or age.
In co-hosting this exhibition, the Sustainability Project Department, which was newly established in February, is experimentally developing "tactile signs" and "listening signs" within the exhibit.
By continuing to promote the development of "exciting five-sense signs," we will develop signs that utilize the five senses and are easy for everyone to understand, contributing to the realization of a society in which no one is left behind.

Tanseisha has been supporting the predecessor event of the "Super Welfare Exhibition (official name: 2020, Shibuya. Let's Experience the Daily Life of Super Welfare)" organized by the NPO People Design Institute, the organizer of this exhibition, since 2012, and has been co-hosting the event since 2017. Even after the 2020 "Super Welfare Exhibition" ends, Tanseisha is still cooperating with the "Super Welfare School," which is held as one of the "Super Welfare" projects, and continues to work to remove "mental barriers" against minorities, including people with disabilities, and against welfare itself.

We look forward to your visit.

About the Apple Project

This is an associated project of the "Super Welfare School Project" organized by the NPO People Design Institute. It aims to provide everyone with the opportunity to experience accessible books and to make reading more diverse. As part of its activities, it holds events where people can experience accessible books and equipment all at once, as well as on-site classes and trial sessions at schools and libraries. By having everyone participate in these trial sessions, it is hoped that children with reading difficulties will also be provided with a rich reading experience, giving them the chance to develop their imagination, language skills, and intellectual curiosity. The "Apple Shelf" is an initiative created in Sweden to raise awareness of accessible books.
