"SCOPE MIAMI BEACH 2024" is one of the world's leading art fairs, with over 130 international art galleries exhibiting in a huge venue located on Miami Beach.

In addition to 150 pieces by three artists, including artists Produce by B-OWND, the booth will feature TeaRoom, a tea startup with which we entered into a business partnership in 2023, participating for the first time as an art collective, exhibiting and selling "Ichinen -- The Life Force at Every Moment," a tea ceremony that expresses the space itself as art.
We are also planning to announce collaborative works with well-known manga, anime, and other artists, but we will announce details of these at a later date.

Since launching its service in 2019, B-OWND has undertaken various initiatives to popularize Japanese crafts as art, including holding various events to convey Japanese aesthetics and opening permanent galleries. By advancing its overseas business, the company aims to contribute to improving the international value of creating spaces based on Japanese aesthetics.

B-OWND Booth Overview

Venue B-OWND (Tanseisha) Exhibition Booth: G019・H021
Contents One of the two booths will feature approximately 150 new pieces by three artists participating in B-OWND, combining traditional Japanese aesthetics and crafts with a modern twist, as well as works created in collaboration with famous manga and anime artists. The other booth will feature an installation piece based on the Japanese tea ceremony, created in collaboration with TeaRoom. This piece will present the tea ceremony as a comprehensive art form that has been established for over 450 years, integrating various elements such as architecture, gardens, tea utensils, ikebana, hanging scrolls, and food. Contemporary art tends to be exhibited in white cubes to emphasize the independent form of each piece, but this exhibition goes against that trend and will create an installation piece in which all elements are harmonized to create a space and experience.

Comment from TeaRoom CEO Ryo Iwamoto

Our activities at TeaRoom have transcended the boundaries of a company, and we are now making our debut as an artist collective. In an age when wars are deliberately started. While many people are grieving over division, we have been thinking since our founding about what we can offer through a single bowl of tea. As a country with many natural disasters, we have a deep reverence for nature, which began with animism. We would like to convey this philosophy through our objects. Sen no Rikyu created spaces. Only by increasing the value of the space can the value of the craftsmanship also increase. As creators of spaces, we have been given a wonderful opportunity to ask important questions to the world. We would like to once again face our own country's culture and deliver the values that this country has been asking about as global values.

Comment from Ken Ishigami, B-OWND Producer, Business Development Division, Planning and Development Center, Tanseisha

This year, we will once again participate in the world's largest art fair in Miami, and in addition to exhibiting works by three artists belonging to B-OWND, we will also be presenting an installation work based on the tea ceremony in collaboration with TeaRoom. Through this work, we will express the appeal of the multidimensional and multi-layered context of the tea ceremony in a new way, and instead of following the Western style of evaluation method of "points" that are consumed as individual works, we will create an environment in which it is evaluated as a "surface" that includes a style that can integrate various cultural elements, and we will begin an attempt to create added value by connecting the historical nature of Japanese crafts and culture with the context of art.

About "B-OWND"

Launched in May 2019, B-OWND is an online marketplace that handles craft works as the highest form of art that expresses Japanese beauty. By carefully introducing artists and their works, the platform aims to connect artists with buyers. In addition, B-OWND allows you to purchase works that come with a blockchain-based digital certificate of authenticity. The fact that you have purchased a work is recorded semi-permanently, and each person's aesthetic sense is engraved in the history of art and crafts.
