Seminar Overview

Date and Time Friday, January 30, 2026 10:30-11:30
Theme and Overview Developing new markets from the perspective of "super welfare"
The NPO People Design Institute engages in diversity and inclusion urban development activities. With a vision of "Super Welfare," a society that social minorities, including people with disabilities, can aspire to, the Institute hosts a variety of interactive exhibitions and events, including the "Super Welfare Exhibition," an exhibition of highly designed welfare equipment; the "Super Welfare School," an education-themed event; and the "Super Welfare Library," which presents new ideas for indoor public spaces. These events have previously selected existing products, services, and technologies from numerous companies from a "Super Welfare" perspective and presented them to those involved in disability welfare at the exhibition, thereby creating new possibilities and new markets in the fields of nursing care, disability, and welfare. We will discuss specific examples of these past projects together with the space design firm Tanseisha.
Speakers
Masahiro Tanaka
Representative Director of NPO People Design Institute
After graduating from Bunka Fashion College, he worked as a snowboard instructor and in apparel sales, planning, and design before joining Nextide Evolution, a company headed by Shinji Sudo, founder of the NPO People Design Institute, in 2009. He became a member of the NPO's management team when it was established in 2012. As a director, he is responsible for planning, Direction, and running events such as the "Super Welfare Exhibition" and the "Work Experience Project for People with Disabilities." He became the company's representative director in April 2021.

He joined Tanseisha in 1997. After 10 years of construction management at cultural facilities, he has been involved in the creation of a wide variety of spaces, including commercial facilities, while also being involved in human resource development. In 2014, he participated in the venue design for the "Shibuya 2020: Experience the Everyday Life of Super Welfare" exhibition from its launch, and has since continued to work side by side on a series of projects, including the "Super Welfare School." He joined Tanseisha in 2019. While working on the design of restaurants and retail stores, mainly amusement facilities, he became interested in 3D models and entered the world of 3DCG. He works hard every day to transform 3DCG into "fun" content that will make everyone smile. In recent years, he has worked with deaf employees to plan and produce "YU-MO," a diversity content project that uses finger spelling, and disseminates a variety of information.

Eikai Nishikawa
Tanseisha Marketing & Sustainability Headquarters Marketing and Sustainability Division Sustainability Project Department Planning Section
He joined Tanseisha in 2016. Through the creation of museums across the country, he has been involved in creating spaces that pass on the local natural environment, history, culture, and people's way of life to the next generation. Since 2025, he has worked in the sustainability department, supporting spatial design and social implementation with an emphasis on low carbon, resource circulation, well-being, and diversity and inclusion (D&I). For "Super Welfare School 2025," he was in charge of planning and creating a Snoezelen space that focuses on sensory diversity.

Exhibition Contents Overview

Name Chomian
Overview This is a digital exhibition content themed on food culture, developed as part of the "FOOD SCAPE PROJECT." Based on the concept of "experiencing delicious food with your eyes and ears," it provides an immersive experience that makes you feel as if you are eating at the local restaurant, even though you are not actually eating the food. By stimulating "sight" and "hearing," which account for approximately 90% of the five senses (83% sight and 11% hearing), with digital technology, it aims to elicit real desires such as "I want to eat," "I want to learn," and "I want to go."
Exhibition location Tokyo Big Sight West Hall 2, 2W-L37, Super Welfare Lab
