IM [Internet Museum] (https://www.museum.or.jp/, hereafter referred to as "IM"), a museum information website operated by Tanseisha, has announced the final results of the Museum Zodiac Collection Awards 2026, which explores the appeal of zodiac-related collections held by museums and determines the most popular collection in Japan. Voting closed at 3:00 PM on January 23rd.
With 3,862 votes out of a total of 28,518, the Grand Prix for 2026 went to the Cast Bronze Equestrian Statue of Maeda Toshinaga from Takaoka City Museum (Toyama Prefecture). Second place went to the Wireworm from Meguro Parasitological Museum (Tokyo), and third place went to the Battle of the Vanguard at the Uji River from Gifu Prefecture Museum (Gifu Prefecture).

This year marks the 12th anniversary of the event, which began in 2015, and saw the participation of a record 117 museums. The exhibition featured some unique works that at first glance may not be related to horses, creating a buzz on social media.
The "Cast Bronze Statue of Maeda Toshinaga on Horseback" depicts the celebratory pose of Maeda Toshinaga, the creator and godfather of Takaoka, beloved by the locals, as he entered Takaoka Castle. Made from Takaoka copperware, a traditional industry and craft of Takaoka City, it can also be said to be a work that symbolizes the city.
Tanseisha will continue to deepen the bond between museums and fans through the operation of "IM," thereby contributing to improving the value of cultural facilities and realizing a more colorful society.
