One of our employees will be speaking at a talk session held as part of the "design surf seminar 2026" (organized by Too Corporation), which will take place on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Belle Salle Shiba Park (Minato MINATO CITY, Tokyo).

The "design surf seminar" is an annual event held since 2016 by Too Inc., whose mission is to "create an environment where people can be creative." It serves as a forum for discussing the concerns and challenges that have emerged from dialogues with many customers, as well as the future of the design business.

This event will explore the theme “The Past, Present, and Future of Spatial Design — Skills and Mindset Required of Designers Moving Forward.” The panelists will be Satoko Machida, General Manager of the Creative & Development Division at Design Center; Jun Yamashita, Group Leader of the Digital Design Group and Senior Creative Expert in the Creative & Development Division at Design Center; and Tsuneo Hong, Creative Fellow at Design Center.

The Past, Present, and Future of Spatial Design — Skills and Mindset Required of Designers Moving Forward

For the past 80 years, Tanseisha, Comprehensive display business, has been a partner to its clients, creating and providing diverse spatial designs. During this time, changes have occurred, such as the expansion of demands from society, businesses, and users, as well as the evolution of technology surrounding design. In this seminar, based on our long experience in spatial design, designers active on the front lines will share their insights into the power and appeal of spatial design, as well as the challenges and considerations unique to contract work.

We create designs that focus on the "experience" of people who visit a space. From the design of physical spaces to the design of virtual spaces, we propose and realize solutions to the "spatial experience" that is required in various fields through the power of design.

After graduating from Musashino Art University, he joined Tanseisha Co., Ltd. Since then, he has been involved in facility planning, design, and Produce in a wide range of fields, including museums, art galleries, exhibitions, and KUKAN DESIGN AWARD parks. Since 2002, he has also served as a faculty member The University Museum, promoting practical research on the possibilities of exhibitions and museums. He has received numerous awards, including the Japan Display Design Award Grand Prize, the Japan Spatial Design Award Grand Prize, the iF Design Award, the German Design Award, and the Asian Design Award. His publications include "Exhibition Design Album" (The University of Tokyo Press, 2019).
