It primarily focuses on lead investments, providing funding immediately after a company's founding or at the time of its first equity fundraising. ANOBAKA is characterized by its investment style, focusing on attractive companies and businesses regardless of their field or sector. In 2023, it launched a fund specializing in generative AI, demonstrating its active investment in this area. With its fourth fund, launched in 2025, ANOBAKA is dedicated to discovering promising entrepreneurs and businesses, aiming to become an infrastructure for Japan's startup ecosystem.
<waypoint venture partners>
Established in 2023, we are an independent VC firm that primarily invests in companies during the Pre-Seed to Seed stages. Our focus investment themes include: ① urban development (mobility, infrastructure, healthcare, and public services), and ② sustainable growth areas in industry (construction, real estate, manufacturing, and logistics). In particular, in the construction sector, which is deeply involved in urban development, we operate "Construction Tech AtoZ," a construction-focused podcast that disseminates information on industry structure and construction technology.
Furthermore, while we are a Tokyo-based VC, we are also promoting collaboration with regional areas where challenges related to our focus themes often manifest themselves early. Currently, we are building connections with universities, local companies, and local governments, mainly in Hiroshima Prefecture, and providing support for Tokyo-based startups expanding into regional areas and regional startups expanding into Tokyo.
