TANSEISHA Co., Ltd., in collaboration with development partner companies affiliated with the Japan Event Industry Promotion Association (JACE) (located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Tadashi Ishii), has completed the development of the main functions of "EVENT CARBON SIMULATOR," an industry-standard carbon calculator for event activity processes, which has been under development since June 2025. Following this, a "Works Working Group" has been formed with 15 JACE member companies, and we are pleased to announce that we have begun trial operation in preparation for a future public release.

[Background of Development: Responding to Sustainability Disclosure and Industry Challenges]
Following the Sustainability Standards Board of Japan's (SSBJ) phased implementation of mandatory information disclosure starting in the fiscal year ending March 2027, understanding and disclosing companies' greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions has become an unavoidable management issue. In particular, disclosure of the entire supply chain (Scope 3) is expected to be included in the future, and discussions on establishing standards for this are beginning in various forums.
In the event industry, too, securing quantitative and objective evidence (basis for calculation) that can withstand future disclosure requests has become an urgent issue in these uncertain circumstances. Against this backdrop, this calculator was designed with the utmost priority on consistency and reproducibility of calculations, taking a comprehensive view of the process from planning and production to the actual event and its conclusion, ensuring that "the same results are obtained regardless of who performs the measurement."
[Main features of the EVENT CARBON SIMULATOR]
• High-precision calculation based on "weight"
Instead of the conventional "monetary basis" method, which has a large margin of error, we have adopted a calculation method that is based on "weight," which reduces calculation errors. This makes it possible to provide more objective and transparent evidence (basis for calculation).
Establishment of industry standard rules
Instead of relying on individual company standards, a common calculation rule for the industry will be established through JACE. This rule is based on the "SUSTAINABLE ENGINE CARBON SIMULATOR" launched by HAKUHODO PRODUCT'S INC. in June 2024. This will enable comparative analysis across events and the setting of reduction targets for the entire industry.
[Future Roadmap]
We will begin trial operation in April 2026, verifying usability and accuracy based on actual field data. We will continue our efforts with the goal of making it publicly available in the future, incorporating the results of this trial.
[Vision of the Operations Working Group]
Through this calculator, we aim to create a healthy competitive environment where companies in the event industry can compete on a level playing field, striving to reduce environmental impact and improve design quality. By elevating sustainability initiatives from individual company efforts to industry standards, we will contribute to fostering a sustainable event culture.
