An exhibition with the theme "Bringing Art Closer to You"

The art and interior materials are sized to match and blend together.

This exhibition is in collaboration with artists participating in B-OWND, an art and crafts platform serviced by Tanseisha, and aims to create value in spatial expression by creating new spaces that elevate art as interior design from the standpoints of traditional crafts, art, spatial design, and business.

Exhibition booths and talk sessions that were lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be made available in a new format

Initially, we planned to exhibit the product at the special exhibition "NIPPON Premium Design" at "JAPAN SHOP 2020," Japan's largest general retail trade fair, which was scheduled to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from March 3rd (Tue) to 6th (Fri), 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibition was canceled, and we decided to exhibit the product in a new setting at our headquarters, Creative Meets. Since we will not be able to have visitors come to our office to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will make the product available to view as Video content at a later date. The talk session "Crafts as Art x Spatial Design - New Possibilities Created by the Fusion of Traditional Crafts, Art, and Spatial Design," which was scheduled to be a lecture at the "JAPAN SHOP 2020" organizer seminar, is also scheduled to be released as Video content at a later date.

*To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we ask that you refrain from visiting our office without making an appointment to view the exhibits. In addition, the talk sessions are not open to the public. Thank you for your understanding.

Future outlook

Tanseisha will continue to broaden the scope of activities of artists and craftspeople, who are the "bearers of culture" in Japan, aiming to contribute to the promotion of Japanese culture and the arts, while also challenging itself to create new spatial value and experiential opportunities through collaborations with artists.

Key Points of the Exhibition

展示のポイント模式図Usually, art is produced without a designated size, but this time, in order to utilize art as interior design, the art was adjusted to the size of the ready-made materials used in interior design. By fusing art with interior design materials, we were able to create a highly original space.

Comments from participating artists

Ceramic artist Toru Ichikawa
市川透氏ポートレート写真Traditionally, artworks have been displayed in a space illuminated with pin-spot lighting, but this work, like a folding screen or sliding door, is a piece of art that becomes part of our living space and lifestyle. By sharing with Mr. Ikeda a new way of thinking about art in the modern era, striking a balance between the individual and the whole, I think we were able to create a wonderful piece and Spatial Production.
We feel that many people are not satisfied with the lack of originality found in conventional building and wall materials. A space where unique, luxurious art is incorporated into the walls along with building materials allows for an elegant and high-level Spatial Production in terms of color and texture.

Comments from the space designer

Design Center Principal Creative Director Masaki Ikeda
池田正樹ポートレート写真Initially, I was prepared to take on the challenge of trial and error to embody how to fuse Ichikawa's unconventional works with interior design. However, when I first met Ichikawa, I was able to clearly imagine the outline of this project. Although it was about a year ago, I remember this very strange experience as clearly as if it were yesterday. Perhaps our wavelengths were synchronized well, but I felt a new possibility of elevating art to a higher level as interior design.
