Winner of the Excellence Award and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award at the 18th Kids Design Awards

  • Notice

The "Fossil Research Experience" at the Fukui Prefecture Prefectural Dinosaur Museum (New Wing), for which we helped create the space, won the "Excellent Award" at the 18th Kids Design Awards (sponsored by the NPO Kids Design Council).
We are pleased to announce that we have received the "Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award". In addition, the following project received the "Kids Design Award".

Kids Design Award is an award system that recognizes all products, services, spaces, activities, and research that consider children and the birth and upbringing of children. It consists of three categories: "Design that contributes to the safety and security of children," "Design that develops children's creativity and future," and "Design that makes it easy to give birth and raise children." Our company's entry in the "Design that develops children's creativity and future" category is evaluated on designs that help develop children's creativity and sensibilities, help them acquire diverse knowledge, and improve their motor skills, as well as designs that incorporate new ideas, ingenuity, and methods.

The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, which was awarded to the Fukui Prefecture Dinosaur Museum (New Building) "Fossil Research Experience," is awarded to the best Award works in the fields of "design that contributes to the safety and security of children" and "design that opens up children's creativity and the future."
We received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award for the third time since the 8th award, and the 10th Kids Design Award following the year before.
We would like to express our gratitude to our customers for giving us this opportunity, as well as to everyone who cooperated with us in various processes.

Going forward, we will continue to keep in mind the perspective of those who will use the space and work to create rich spaces that can contribute to our customers' businesses.

【overview】
The Fukui Prefecture Dinosaur Museum conducts the largest fossil excavation surveys in Japan and is a global hub for fossil research and information dissemination. A "Fossil Research Experience" was planned as the core of the renovation accompanying the new building extension. This experience is made up of four types of experience content in line with the actual fossil research process: "Fossil Excavation Plus," "Fossil Cleaning," "CT Fossil Observation," and "T. Rex Skull Restoration." By providing a full-fledged, specialized experience that is closer to actual research (contributing to the museum's research) using tools and equipment used in research, as well as rocks and fossil materials excavated from the excavation site,
In pursuit of "REAL," we offer "a genuine research process experience that does not treat children like children," stimulating an inquisitive mind and supporting their growth.
Reasons for the award
There are many examples of science experiences at museums, but there is great value in being able to experience using equipment and environments equivalent to those used in specialized research. This leads to the creation of an environment where people can gain deeper learning by interacting with the real thing.
This is a work of high quality featuring an experiential program and design that induces action.

[Comment from the person in charge]
We held numerous discussions with the people involved, keeping in mind the concepts of "sticking to the real thing" and "not treating children like children," and we believe that our uncompromising pursuit of the "REAL" experience led to this award. In an annual survey of participants, 99% rated themselves as satisfied, and we received feedback that the experience had changed their outlook on museums and the exhibits, which made us feel that we were able to provide a meaningful and valuable experience. This experience will continue to evolve in the future, so we hope that many people will continue to experience this "REAL" experience. (Creative Director Yamato Fumiaki)

"Amakusa City Goshoura Dinosaur Island Museum: Inside the Mind of a Researcher"

(Design category: Opening up children's creativity and the future)

【overview】
Located on the remote island of Goshoura, this natural history museum is built on strata from the Cretaceous period when dinosaurs lived, and is a newly renovated museum that allows visitors to imagine the ancient world. The museum aims to provide a museum experience where visitors can enjoy the exhibits in depth, as if they were "homestaying" on an island. The panels, which are based on the brain map motif of the original experiential learning program "Inside the Mind of a Researcher," allow visitors to get a real look at the thoughts of researchers that would be hidden behind the exhibits in conventional museums.

"Azamino Shirayuri Kindergarten Interactive Video Content PLAY WALL"

(Design category: Opening up children's creativity and the future)

【overview】
Azamino Shirayuri Kindergarten, founded in 1979, practices not only "education" to teach and raise children, but also "co-education" where children and parents, and children and teachers grow together. From the perspective of "co-education," we do not unilaterally give a finished form to the children, but instead held a workshop with the participation of 150 children and all teachers as part of the childcare, and created "PLAYWALL" (interactive Video content), an experience and space that is close to everyday life. The story of Video content adopts the format of a picture book familiar to children, and the theme is "rain," which is familiar in everyday life. For this reason, a picture book author also participated in the workshop, and Tanseisha acted as facilitator, and we co-created a rainbow picture that decorates the last part of Video content. The ending of the "PLAYWALL" story changes depending on how you interact with it, so unexpected play is born every day.
