JDN INC., Ltd., a member of the Tanseisha Group, launched "Japan Design Net," the predecessor of the design information site "JDN," in 1997, and will celebrate its 25th anniversary this October 2022.
Details have been finalized for three talk events entitled "Creating, Using, and Thinking About Design," which will be held as a token of our appreciation to all of our regular readers of JDN. If you register in advance, you will be able to watch the live online broadcast and send questions to the speakers in advance. We look forward to your participation.
In addition, we will be posting a special page with special articles celebrating the 25th anniversary, including a special column called "Everyone's 'My 25'" in which creators and companies have contributed.

Talk event online streaming
Starting on October 26th, we will hold three talk sessions to discuss the present and future of Japanese design, with the keywords "make," "use," and "think" from the JDN tagline. Each session will have a different theme, and we will invite people active on the front lines to talk online. Each session will also include a Q&A corner for readers. With our gratitude for the past 25 years, we aim to provide you with hints and insights on how to get involved in the future of Japanese design.

1. #Create Ask creators about their passion for "creation"
This talk focuses on the three creators' thorough commitment and highly sensitive creativity. From how they come up with ideas to their unique production process, production environment and tools, it will shed light on what these frontline creators have been focusing on and what they value in the past, present and future.

2. #Use For design to be "used" in society - A happy relationship between design and society
A popular JDN content, "Spatial Design Examples" introduces designs with unique concepts and spatial usage. We will invite designers and clients to talk about two examples of design that have been introduced into local communities and have received a great deal of attention in recent years: "Future Convenience Store" and "Kamikatsu Town Zero Waste Center." We will hear about the background, challenges and solution process of developing sustainable spaces, how they are being used in the local community, and candid opinions on the current position, pervasiveness, importance, and future of design in society.

3. #Thinking Thinking about the creative ways of working in the future
We welcomed three graphic designers who will carry the future of the Japanese design scene, and held a talk session that will provide guidelines and hints for young designers. How to approach design when you first enter society, how to think about your career in your 20s, when is the right time to go independent, what you need to learn and realize, etc. The speakers will discuss topics based on their own experiences.

25th anniversary commemorative logo and visual
The logotype has the number "25th" placed in a calm color that matches the tone of the media itself while still evoking a hint of celebration. The visual also features a golden brown and gray trail connecting the number "25" in the background of the logo, expressing the vision that JDN INC. aims to achieve through the operation of the design information site "JDN," which is to "connect design and business with information, spreading smiles and energy to people and society."
The design was handled by Takumu Imoto, representative and designer of broom inc., who had previously helped run a design event at JDN INC.
Takumu Imoto (CEO/Designer, broom inc.)
Born in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture in 1992. While moving from architecture to product design to graphic design, he established the style that is the foundation of the current broom inc., which is based on a free perspective that is not bound by method and comprehensive experience design, and started his own company in 2014. He is involved in various projects such as product development and service launch. He established broom inc. in 2017. His major awards include the DFA Design for Asia Award and the Japan Package Design Grand Prize.
