  • News Release

Tanseisha has fully renovated an over 50-year-old building located in Higashi-Nihonbashi, Chuo City Tokyo, and is opening it as "Libra Higashi-Nihonbashi" in March 2025. To recruit tenants for the basement floor and floors 2-7, preview events will be held on Thursday, May 8th and Friday, May 9th, 2025.

Libra Higashi-Nihonbashi is part of the R2 (Real-estate Revitalization) project, which utilizes Tanseisha's expertise and network in spatial creation to renovate small and medium-sized old buildings in central Tokyo into offices with more comfortable working environments and increase real estate value. This is the second fully renovated building under the R2 project, following Wind Kodenmacho, which was completed in March 2024. Based on the concept of "using buildings for 100 years," the project aims to contribute to climate change mitigation by promoting "stock utilization," which involves using existing buildings for as long as possible.

Tanseisha will continue to work towards the realization of a sustainable society through its business activities.

Tanseisha fully renovates a 50-year-old, earthquake-resistant building, reviving it into an office building that can be used for 100 years, to be completed in March 2025

About R2

The concept is to use the building for 100 years.
The average lifespan of reinforced concrete offices in Japan is just over 50 years. On the other hand, the physical service life of an RC structure is said to exceed 100 years. (*1) With appropriate seismic reinforcement and renovation of finishes and facilities, it is possible to use a building for 100 years. At R2, we aim to reduce CO2 emissions from buildings and contribute to curbing climate change by shifting our approach to buildings from "scrap and build," which involves demolishing old buildings and replacing them with new ones, to "stock utilization," which involves using existing buildings for as long as possible.

About Libra Higashi Nihonbashi

Adding a new value to office space: sustainability
Properly utilizing the building until the end of its natural lifespan - this was the basic concept behind the renovation of the Libra Higashi Nihonbashi Building.
Although it has been over 50 years since the Libra Higashi Nihonbashi Building was completed in 1973, the original "structure (framework)" has been preserved, safety has been ensured through earthquake-resistance reinforcement work, and the "facilities" such as electricity, water supply and drainage, and air conditioning have been renewed, as well as the "finishing" of the interior and exterior, to revive the building as one that can withstand the next 50 years. We propose the idea of "sustainability," which is required in the current era, as a new value when choosing an office.

A place filled with "just right"
In addition to being spacious and functional, it offers the perfect space for startup companies and project teams as a fully-furnished office that can be used immediately without the hassle or cost of relocation. In addition to being highly accessible with multiple lines such as the Toei Asakusa Line and Shinjuku Line, the open feeling and good visibility that come with a corner lot are also appealing.
