Based on the work, which became a pioneer of giant humanoid robot manga and anime, we have produced Takahiro Koga's masterpiece "Hooyoroi Sake Cup" under the supervision of its creator Go Nagai and Dynamic Production. The sake cup is inspired by the cheek armor worn by samurai warriors, and although it is shaped like a mask, it is also a usable tea utensil. Two of these works are limited to two and can be seen at both the B-OWND booth and the Shueisha Manga Art Heritage booth, which is exhibiting Go Nagai's works. We also plan to exhibit it in Japan and start selling it in limited editions in the new year.

Since launching its service in 2019, B-OWND has undertaken various initiatives to popularize Japanese crafts as art, including hosting various events to convey Japanese aesthetics and opening permanent galleries. Through these initiatives, we aim to contribute to raising the international value of creating spaces based on Japanese aesthetics.

Collaborative Work Overview

Title Samurai Ware Mask Model. Mazinger Z
writer Takahiro Koga x Go Nagai
Overview Mazinger Z, which became hugely popular in the 1970s as a manga and TV anime, is the foundation of the current rise of manga and anime both in Japan and overseas, and is the origin of subsequent robot manga and anime, so it is significant that it is being exhibited as an art piece. The way humans get into robots and become stronger is similar to modern warlords who become stronger by wearing armor, so it has been recreated as a cheek armor cup.
