"I want everyone living in Japan today to know and think about this."
Geological disposal is a project to isolate high-level radioactive waste deep underground, which is an issue associated with energy production.
The disposal of high-level radioactive waste that has already been generated is a concern for anyone living in modern Japan, but compared to the meaning and role of the project, there has been an issue of low awareness. The Geo-Lab was created as a mobile exhibition vehicle that travels around the country and sets up caravan exhibits in order to widely disseminate the existence and concept of geological disposal.
In addition to the fixed Video and graphic displays in the immersive geological space, the mobile display tools can be transported and set up, turning each of the diverse locations into a "space for dialogue" that will lead to communication with users who have their own thoughts and ideas. By touring various parts of the country where energy is actually consumed and exhibiting at local festivals and events, we aimed to provide an opportunity for people to learn about and think about the state of their lives and society in the past and into the future.
Finally, if you see the Geo Lab in your town, I hope you will touch it and think about it as something that concerns you and your future.
