About the Project

Overview This is the first floor public space of the new head office building of Hirogin Holdings, which owns Hiroshima Bank, the bank that boasts the top market share in the Chugoku region. It is a space where anyone can drop in casually, with an event space, cafe, shops, ATMs, etc. The reception desk, which is usually located on the first floor, has been placed on the upper floors, and instead functions as a "plaza" for the local community provided by Hiroshima Bank, demonstrating a new style of bank building open to the city.
Issues/Themes By creating a public space that people can visit and stay in casually and that serves as a place for interaction, we hope to promote banking among a wide range of people, including generations that are increasingly turning away from banks, and to create a lively place for the local community.
Space Solution/Realization Based on the theme of "the nature of Setouchi," which is the backdrop for Hiroshima Bank, which has a history of over 140 years, the design uses graceful, dynamic curves evoking the image of waves and wind. Centered around cafes and shops run by local businesses, we created a soft continuity with the ATMs, safe deposit boxes, etc., so that no borders are felt. The entire floor is structured as a single plaza, creating a lively public space never before seen in a bank.
