About the Project

Overview Mobility SQUARE, an open space created as part of the rebuilding of Toyota Motor Corporation's headquarters in Kagoshima, goes beyond traditional vehicle displays, revolutionizing the way people experience vehicles and conduct business negotiations. It integrates engaging content and space related to mobility and lifestyle, and is equipped with comprehensive information dissemination functions. Like a town square, it is adaptable and flexible, responding to changes in customers and uses, and developing as a new hub that generates unprecedented experiences, vibrancy, and dialogue.
Issues/Themes Going beyond mere vehicle displays, we strive to create a space for dialogue that caters to diverse situations and provides information tailored to each individual. Our goal is to create a space where repeat visitors and local residents can easily drop by and use freely.
Space Solution/Realization A bright, open plaza space connecting with the community has been created through a front yard facing the tram line, an atrium, and a large screen. In addition to introducing "Commuca," a touch-panel digital experience content that stimulates dialogue, a flexible configuration has been achieved by using movable furniture and fixtures. With flexible layout changes and changing Video Production, the space is designed to offer fresh discoveries and a lively atmosphere with every visit.
Sustainable design Universal Design: By adopting safety features such as rounded corners and an intuitive UI, we have created a space that can be comfortably experienced by people of all generations.
Safety design: In the event of a disaster, all furniture can be moved to quickly create a large, open space that can be used for evacuation and support activities.
Wellness Design: We incorporated lush greenery throughout the space, creating an open and comfortable environment where you can feel the warmth of nature.
Regional Design: By opening up comfortable living spaces to the community, we create new vibrancy where people and the town can come and go.
