About the Project

Overview This smoking area was renovated from a space that was previously used as a bar and cloakroom in the Shin-Yokohama Prince Hotel. It was developed as a separate smoking area in response to the Kanagawa Prefecture Ordinance for the Prevention of Passive Smoking in Public Facilities. (*Currently unavailable due to infection prevention measures.)
Issues/Themes To improve user satisfaction by providing a high-quality experience rather than simply a place where people can smoke.
Space Solution/Realization Using "water" as a design motif, we have created a rich space that provides "moisture" to customers. The first floor makes use of the calm and relaxing atmosphere of the bar. On the fourth floor, where the cloakroom has been renovated, we have taken care to conceal the smoke from outside while still maintaining the comfort of smokers, with consideration for non-smokers.
