About the Project

Overview Adachi Ward's Galaxy City has carried out a complete renovation of its facilities in order to resolve issues in the ward's child-rearing environment (declining educational opportunities in the home and community, fewer opportunities for play and hands-on experiences, etc.).
Based on the ward's children's policy, which is based on the basic principle of "nurturing the ability to survive resilient," the facility has been transformed into a place where children can no longer passively experience the games they are given, but rather participate in the creation of the facility themselves and constantly share their expressive activities.
Issues/Themes The theme is "A galaxy created by children."
By involving children in the process leading up to the opening and in ongoing programs after the opening, we hope to foster a spirit of adventure in the children and maintain a lively image of the facility.
Space Solution/Realization "Kids Meeting" (abbreviated as "Kodomi") was established as a place to embody the idea of "children making." Through design and production, various creative activities were carried out by the "children" and adults of various generations, and spaces were created throughout the facility where these activities could be expressed. We aim to solve problems by creating both mechanisms (community design) and spaces (space design) to realize the theme of the facility.
