About the Project

Overview Located at Amsterdam Square in the center of Huis Ten Bosch, a theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture, this attraction offers an unprecedented interactive skating experience. The skating trajectory reacts interactively to Video on the rink, enhancing the artistry and sense of speed of skating. In addition, projection mapping is projected onto the buildings in the background, creating a light skating show that entertains the audience.
Issues/Themes The goal is to create an unprecedented attraction that combines virtual reality (VR) content and skating as part of "Kingdom of Light 2013," an ongoing event program held at Huis Ten Bosch.
Space Solution/Realization To create an attraction that can be enjoyed not only by skaters but also by spectators, interactive functions were introduced to the rink and projection mapping was used on the walls. Utilizing dynamic VR content, the rink was created as "an interactive skating experience in a Video space that is connected from the floor to the walls, where couples can watch while sipping cocktails." With vivid lights and Video, it feels like you are playing with light, making it an attraction that can be enjoyed from various perspectives.
