About the Project

Overview The ramen stadium inside Canal City Hakata has been renovated. The world of ramen, with its diverse genres and individual characteristics, has been reconfigured to powerfully convey its unique character through the dynamic expression of ramen bowls. Focusing on the large number of foreign Tourism, we paid close attention to the "shape and pattern" of the ramen bowls and the noren (shop curtain), creating a photogenic space that will inspire people to share Japanese ramen culture on social media. The randomly placed bowls create opportunities to encounter new ramen cultures and offer a deeper culinary experience.
Issues/Themes Due to high inbound demand, and in order to differentiate ourselves from similar facilities, we aim to achieve "ease of understanding," "impact," "photogenic qualities," and "a unique expression of ramen culture."
Space Solution/Realization The facades of the eight tenant stores were unified into a bowl-shaped facade, meticulously designed with attention to pattern, shape, and texture to create an oversized, visually striking design. The facade itself was transformed into a photo spot, expressing the individuality of the eight brands. While highlighting the individuality of each brand within a unified design, the impactful facade and the stadium-like space where the ramen brands Spatial Production differentiate the facility from similar establishments.
Sustainable design Circular Design: To minimize waste generated when tenants change, we created a system that allows only the tenant's wall signage and noren (traditional Japanese curtain) to be updated while keeping the facade shape the same.
