A place for citizen interaction and child-rearing support that fosters attachment with a design unique to Shimonoseki

Overview | This is a free childcare support facility based on the basic concept of "raising children who will lead the next generation together". It opened in the newly constructed JR Shimonoseki Station building as a base for citizen interaction and childcare support. It is equipped with facilities such as a playland where preschool children and their parents can play together, a creative land exchange space aimed at multi-generational interaction, and a childcare room. Support is also available for those involved in childcare, making it a facility that supports the community in raising children who will lead the future. |

Issues/Themes | To support families with children and to create a place for civic activities where people of all generations can interact. Also, to create a facility that provides an opportunity to experience the history and culture of Shimonoseki and foster a sense of patriotism. |
Space Solution/Realization | The playland for parents and children is set in the sea of Shimonoseki, and the design motif is composed of creatures and famous places unique to Shimonoseki, so that people can feel attached to their hometown of Shimonoseki. The design is created to create a relaxing atmosphere in a bright space filled with natural light. In the interaction space, poems by Misuzu Kaneko, a poet with ties to Shimonoseki, are scattered on the walls, and a soft design has been created to gently embrace the space and support fathers and mothers who are struggling with child-rearing. |
