A learning and enlightenment facility for facing disaster prevention, overlooking the disaster experience room

Overview | This is a disaster prevention learning and awareness facility that provides an opportunity to think about "what can you do if a disaster that shakes the foundations of your life occurs" and to face "disaster prevention" starting with what each individual can do. Aiming to create a disaster-resistant town and improve disaster response capabilities, it was established as a disaster prevention training center on the first floor of the newly built fire department building to promote awareness of disaster prevention among citizens. |

Issues/Themes | Within a limited space, we have prepared equipment for learning about and experiencing disaster prevention, including earthquakes, strong winds, and early stage firefighting, and we have created a space that expresses the idea of understanding the true nature of the threat of disasters and linking this to experience. |
Space Solution/Realization | The fundamental fear of disasters is that "threats sometimes overlap and attack continuously," so the experience rooms for various disasters are arranged in a circle so that visitors can get a panoramic view. The glass surfaces of the experience rooms are made of a collection of particles to represent the ever-changing, shapeless power of disasters. In addition, the color code that makes up the space is "silver" and "yellow," which raises awareness of disaster prevention and encourages people to face disasters. |
