Based on the concept of "a bridge connecting history and the future," we aimed to unravel Saga's achievements at the time through the themes of "skill," "people," and "aspiration," and to provide an opportunity to utilize these experiences for the future. We carefully constructed a story for visitors to experience, and built four scenes (places) around that story and theme within the venue, Ichimura Memorial Gymnasium. In line with the aims of each scene, we employed a variety of ideas and the latest technology, including Video and sound that created a sense of realism, and Spatial Production that connected visitors to each other, to create an experience that moved visitors' hearts.
Scene 2: Karakuri Theater: A cross-media Spatial Production where Video and props are combined with live actors to enjoyably unravel the "skills" of Saga
Scene 3 "People" - Sage Round Theater: The Seven Sages of Saga engage in a passionate dialogue that transcends time and space, evoking emotions in the audience.
Fourth Scene: "Aspirations" and the Bonding of Wills: Inspired by the experience, visitors will think about their own "aspirations" and write them down. The "aspirations" of each person will be bonded together and become courage for the future.
Bridge space: The corridors connecting each area are Spatial Production to keep visitors engaged. Sound, lighting, graphics, Video, etc. are used to convey the atmosphere of the era.
The Real Kodokan introduces the domain school, Kodokan, which produced many figures who contributed to the formation of modern Japan. It is a museum where you can learn about and experience the "learning" of the Saga domain, which will be useful in society in the future. "Hagakure" is a book that originated in Saga that expresses the samurai's code of conduct. At the Hagakure Miraikan, you can discover the "will" to live a better life by coming into contact with "Hagakure" that is alive in the modern day. Both museums are located in Japanese houses designated as Important Cultural Properties of Saga City, and while making use of the existing architecture such as sliding doors, plaster walls, shoji screens, and antique tools, digital technology has been used to create a space that is easier to understand and more experiential.
The former Koga residence, built in 1884, will be the venue for a realistic experience of learning at the Kodokan.
Kodokan Interesting Exploration Map: A digital device that displays Video when you hold the board over the map to introduce the state of the domain school at the time.
The four shoji screens display quotes from famous people who were influenced by Hagakure, as well as passages from the book.
