About the Project

Overview The Japan Gas Association will be exhibiting a pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo. The concept is "Transform into the future!" To realize a carbon-neutral society, the pavilion will teach the children who will be responsible for the future the importance of "changing our awareness and actions = transforming." It is an "educational entertainment facility" where visitors can learn about environmental issues and new energy sources in an easy-to-understand way.
Issues/Themes Creating content that conveys difficult environmental issues to children in an easy-to-understand way. In particular, ingenuity in conveying specialized information such as the relationship between invisible elements such as "gas" and "human consciousness" and the global environment, as well as "methanation," a CO₂ recycling technology. And providing a memorable and special experience that can only be found at the Expo.
Space Solution/Realization Ghosts are used to symbolize invisible elements such as carbon dioxide and human desires, and XR (cross reality) technology is used to visualize them. Visitors put on XR goggles and transform into ghosts, experiencing a story world that blends real and virtual reality. The experiential story incorporates educational elements about the environment and energy, allowing children to deepen their knowledge in a fun and natural way. In addition, the largest-ever XR (MR/VR) system was developed, allowing 42 people to play interactively at the same time. Entering a different world with friends gathered at the venue, moving their bodies and making noise, the system created a dynamic group experience unique to the Expo.
Design for Environment Universal Design: Compliant with the Universal Design Guidelines of the Expo Association, we aim to create a facility that can be enjoyed by all visitors to the Expo, regardless of age, language, or physical ability.
