About the Project

Overview Shimadzu Corporation's new base is located in King Skyfront (Tonomachi district, Kawasaki City), an open innovation hub that creates new industries in the fields of life science and the environment. Taking advantage of its convenient location near Haneda Airport, the base develops cutting-edge analytical methods and provides solutions, promotes joint research with domestic and international customers and nearby research institutes, and also hosts international academic conferences, academic meetings, and seminars. Based on the concepts of "attracting" and "connecting," the base aims to be a space for the creation and exchange of new knowledge.
Issues/Themes The aim is to embody corporate branding as a new base, as well as to create an exhibition space that showcases the company's history and efforts, as well as advanced equipment and cutting-edge technology.
Space Solution/Realization We established a visual identity and strengthened the branding of "Shimadzu Tokyo Innovation Plaza." The design goes beyond two dimensions and can be expanded into three dimensions. We also incorporated sound and scent Spatial Production to create a space that is conscious of the five senses that can be experienced by visiting this hub.
