About the Project

Overview As a base for investigation, research, storage and preservation of the numerous ruins within Hanamaki City, the facility serves as a place where people can "learn, experience, see and investigate," and also comprehensively introduces Mount Hayachine's rich nature, culture, faith and history to local residents and visitors alike.
The first floor consists of an exhibition room, an experiential learning room, and a training and exhibition room, while the second floor consists of a library and research room.
Issues/Themes The aim is to create an easy-to-understand exhibition that combines the museum's four different themes - "The Nature of Mt. Hayachine," "The Trail of Mountaineers and International Exchange," "Mt. Hayachine Faith and Kagura," and "Jomon Culture" - with the museum's extensive collection of materials.
Space Solution/Realization Using the symbol of the region, "Mt. Hayachine," as a keyword, the exhibition was designed around the concept of "nature, culture, faith, and history nurtured by Mt. Hayachine." For each theme, the museum focused on the meaning, background, and expression of the materials, and used a window display technique in which the materials speak together, creating a landscape-like exhibition called the "Hayachine Display." This gave visitors a sense of realism, and was intended to encourage them to become more interested in Mt. Hayachine.
