About the Project

Overview This facility is an annex of the Prefectural Jewelry and Art College, established with the aim of conveying the appeal of the jewelry industry, a local industry representing Yamanashi, and Yamanashi jewelry. With the theme of "Jewelry with People," the exhibition focuses on jewelry and craftwork, while also showcasing the artisans and techniques that create them. There is also a demonstration studio where you can see the artisans at work up close, and an experience studio for visitors, where you can experience the techniques of jewelry processing first-hand.
Issues/Themes - To communicate the quality of Yamanashi jewelry technology and contribute to the creation of the future jewelry industry in Yamanashi.
- To create a facility that combines the luxury and aspirational feel that only jewelry can offer, with a familiarity with Yamanashi jewelry.
Space Solution/Realization In order to convey the appeal and technology of Yamanashi jewelry within the limited space of 500m2, we planned an exhibition layout that would create a flow of "knowing," "being fascinated," and "empathizing and experiencing." We aimed to convey the theme of each room by changing the design for each exhibition room. The spatial design was handled by a designer who usually works in the commercial field. In addition to the calm and brilliance appropriate for a place dealing in jewelry, we used local materials for the flooring and furniture, creating a facility that also feels warm.
