A comprehensive disaster prevention experience facility with functional Graphic Design on the walls
Photo: Puzzle Ring Co., Ltd.
Overview | The "simulation experience facility" attached to the fire academy in Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture, has reopened as the "Disaster Prevention Learning Center." The facility is the first in the prefecture to introduce a "disaster prevention theater" aimed at raising disaster prevention awareness, and an "earthquake experience corner" where equipment at your feet moves in sync with the movements of Video on the screen. In addition, the facility has been reborn as a comprehensive disaster prevention experience facility, with the existing experience facilities improved, including a fire extinguishing experience and a smoke experience. |

Issues/Themes | The goal is to balance the development of hardware, such as ensuring spatial capacity to accommodate the increasing number of group tours by elementary school students and introducing the latest disaster prevention experience equipment, with software, such as improving the appeal of information on "the reality of disasters" and "the importance of preparation," including a "postulated Akita offshore earthquake," within the existing limited space. |
Space Solution/Realization | A simple layout plan allows us to add new experience elements to the existing space, which had limitations, and increase capacity. A highly visible Graphic Design that makes extensive use of the wall space allows for clear and easy-to-understand zoning and improves information transmission. A monotone color scheme is used as the base, with a golden yellow color that evokes Akita as an accent, creating a sense of contrast and depth in the space, creating a light and bright experience facility that is friendly to a wide range of users. |
