About the Project

Overview This is the only facility in Japan where you can get up close and personal with a running superconducting linear train. The three-story facility allows you to view the adjacent experimental line from every floor. The first floor displays test vehicles and the history of development, the second floor has an experience device for learning about the workings of linear trains, a ride-type mini linear train, and superconductivity phenomena, and the third floor has a linear diorama and a linear theater that shows the future envisioned by superconducting linear trains.
Issues/Themes To convey the power and sense of speed of the superconducting linear train running at 500 km/h.
To widely communicate the appeal of Tourism spots throughout the prefecture, including the experimental line.
Space Solution/Realization In order to convey the power and speed of the Superconducting Maglev, the layout has been developed so that the test run can be viewed from all floors. On the outdoor terrace on the second floor, you can experience the wind and sound of the train running live. The exhibited train emphasizes the sense of running alongside the test line and the feeling of floating above it. In addition, to convey the appeal of Tourism spots in the prefecture, a diorama has been created that will make you want to visit various parts of the prefecture, with the Maglev at the center. The background Video, including the facial expression of Mt. Fuji, are the first full CG in Japan, and are combined with models and lighting Spatial Production the charm of the four seasons.
