About the Project

Overview The members-only resort hotels "XIV Toba (Main Building)" and "XIV Toba Annex" were extensively renovated to create the new Japanese luxury resort "XIV Toba Bettei" and reopened as "Grand XIV Toba." As part of this renovation, we were in charge of the overall interior design of the existing hotel's three specialty restaurants, convention hall, fitness club, and beauty salon, as well as the public spaces connecting them.
Issues/Themes The aim is to renovate the hotel from the casual Southern European resort atmosphere of XIV's early days into a sophisticated, high-quality space on par with the current "Rikyu" brand owned by Resort Trust.
Space Solution/Realization Total Design concept is "Seaside Modern Villa," and we have Spatial Production a stylish, modern space with a white base that evokes the open feeling of a seaside resort and the intimacy of visiting a friend's villa. We set different design themes for each restaurant and other facility within the hotel, creating individuality.
