About the Project

Overview The kids' space at the community center, where local children gather, has been renovated. There are a row of snow igloo-like domes where children can read books, surf the internet or play quizzes on tablet devices, draw pictures, or take a rest. In addition, models, photographs, and Video are used to introduce the local scenery, history, and culture. It has become a place that can be enjoyed by many people, from children to the elderly.
Issues/Themes In addition to renovating the aging space, we will review and renovate the facility's functions to meet current needs so that a variety of users, especially local children, can use the facility in a fun and safe manner.
Space Solution/Realization We installed three Kamakura domes with different shapes and functions, allowing children to discover different places to hang out every day depending on how they play. The Kamakura domes are also special, exciting places for children, like secret bases, making them active spaces that foster children's curiosity. At the same time, we have dotted the domes with exhibits related to the local area, providing a place where children can learn about and experience the local history and culture while they play.
