About the Project

Overview As part of JR East's Shinagawa development project, this is Event Spaces that will be set up in a special venue in front of the station to coincide with the opening of Takanawa Gateway Station, the first new Yamanote Line station in 46 years. Under the theme of "A DAY," JR East's hopes for the new town and future technologies envisioned by the company, with "touchless" as the keyword, will be displayed in the ticket gate, train, and town zones. This pavilion will allow visitors to experience the possibilities of a future where new authentication technology will be used to connect people in a convenient, comfortable, and seamless way.
Issues/Themes As an event that clearly presents JR East's challenge to create a new city, we will create an experience story that will create excitement among visiting guests and express it through space, exhibits, Spatial Production, and new authentication technology.
Space Solution/Realization We exchanged detailed opinions about each and every scene of the experience with the organizers and the company representatives who were providing technical cooperation on new authentication technology, and co-created the experience story for the pavilion.
In expressing the sense of expectation for a new town centered on "people," the project members utilized their diverse knowledge and experience to not only design the exhibition, but also to handle operational tasks, including the costumes of the attendants. From the pavilion's Logo Design to the colors, shapes, and sounds that adorn the space, and even the words the attendants speak, we were able to realize "a world connected to the future" by expressing a consistent worldview.
Design for Environment Universal design: Fixtures and terminals are placed at a height that takes into consideration wheelchair users and children. Video, graphics, and signs are written in Japanese and English.
