Overview | Tochigi Leather Co., Ltd. is one of Japan's leading tanners (leather tanners) with a history dating back to 1937. The company has opened its first antenna shop to promote the appeal of its own globally acclaimed brand of leather, "Tochigi Leather," which is made using natural materials and the traditional method of "vegetable tanning." Issues/Themes | In order to protect the quality of the delicate leather, care is taken to avoid the effects of ultraviolet rays and other factors, and the facility will be open to the local community, allowing for factory tours, shop tours, and workshops. |
Space Solution/Realization | In order to convey the appeal of Tochigi Leather while taking advantage of the location, which has a streetscape of warehouses that is a Tourism resource for the region, we positioned the store as "a store that allows customers to experience Tochigi Leather and contributes to the revitalization of the region." The concept is "Craftsmanship." In addition to the finest material, "Tochigi Leather," made by the hands of craftsmen, we have set up fixtures and other items using materials that are highly compatible with Tochigi Leather, so that customers can feel the inspiration from the particular manufacturing process and methods, as well as the attitude of aiming for harmony with and revitalization of the region. |
Design for Environment | Recycled materials: Scrap wood from the manufacturing process in the factory was used as material for the display fixtures. |
