About the Project

Overview TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO is Japan's premier entertainment complex, themed around sports, mobility, and sustainability, and based on the concept of "Betting on Possibilities." We were involved in creating the spaces in multiple areas, with the aim of developing a new "sports spectator culture" in Japan. The design is based on the idea of "combining the exhilaration of various forms of entertainment, including sports, with a sophisticated, authentic, high-quality feel and the essence of Tokyo," and has created Hospitality Spaces that will satisfy visitors throughout the entire building.

The Hospitality Area, a new arena in Tokyo, was born from the project concept of "Let's pursue possibilities" with various partners under the umbrella of three Toyota Group companies. Targeting VIP users, from fans seeking a special viewing experience to business users, we were responsible for the planning, design, and construction of two entrances and four lounges on the first to fifth floors, 22 suite rooms in two areas, and the signage and VI (visual identity) for the entire area.
Issues/Themes In addition to being the home arena for Alvark Tokyo, the arena will offer a variety of experiences to guests in order to offer the appeal of a wide range of sports as a "next-generation sports experience." It will also be a special space with added value as a hospitality area, not only for the 30 home games per year, but also for other events and business use.
Space Solution/Realization Tokyo is a city of many different colors, but one culture. We have seen TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO as a new center for sports and other entertainment, and by incorporating elements of Tokyo into each area, we have created a space where each area's unique characteristics stand out.
By defining the motivations we wanted to provide to guests in each area - "desire to watch/appreciate" and "desire to socialize" - we were able to give each space its own unique experience value. Furthermore, we developed the "A for Beginning," an icon that is also connected to the arena logo from the start of the project, into a visual identity, and by deploying it throughout the entire area, we were able to create a worldview that is one hospitality area with a variety of colors.
We aimed to create an area that could embodied exactly what this arena could offer, one that would foster club and basketball fans, while also being useful for business use and conventions.
