About the Project

Overview TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO is Japan's premier entertainment complex, themed around sports, mobility, and sustainability, and based on the concept of "Betting on Possibilities." We were involved in creating the spaces in multiple areas, with the aim of developing a new "sports spectator culture" in Japan. The design is based on the idea of "combining the exhilaration of various forms of entertainment, including sports, with a sophisticated, authentic, high-quality feel and the essence of Tokyo," and has created Hospitality Spaces that will satisfy visitors throughout the entire building.

The JAPAN AIRLINES LOUNGE is an area where you can enjoy watching the game and dining, freely moving between the spectator seats and the bar-style lounge. Though directly connected to the spectator seats, which offer a panoramic view of the court, separated by a single door, the lounge is spacious and offers a place to relax and deepen friendships. Various seating styles are available, allowing you to use them freely while watching the game. The distinctive lighting Spatial Production maintains an uplifting atmosphere, creating a space that leaves a lasting impression on how you spend your time here.
Issues/Themes The area is characterized by its close proximity to the spectator seats and ease of movement, making it a special experience for users. We needed to create a space that would encourage free movement between the lounge and the area, as well as create a unique character that was unique to this location.
Space Solution/Realization The layout is a mix of sofa seats, counter seats, and standing tables, creating a variety of spaces for individuals, couples, groups, and any number of people. By placing the buffet counter as the central core and dispersing seating areas from it, the space is clearly delineated, creating a lounge space that is easy to move around in. While taking inspiration from the deep cityscape of Tokyo, the space is characterized by the contrast created by the high-quality lighting Spatial Production of cyan, evoking the uplifting red and blue of the sea.
