About the Project

Overview TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO is Japan's premier entertainment complex, themed around sports, mobility, and sustainability, and based on the concept of "Betting on Possibilities." We were involved in creating the spaces in multiple areas, with the aim of developing a new "sports spectator culture" in Japan. The design is based on the idea of "combining the exhilaration of various forms of entertainment, including sports, with a sophisticated, authentic, high-quality feel and the essence of Tokyo," and has created Hospitality Spaces that will satisfy visitors throughout the entire building.

In the PLAYERS LOUNGE, where players can be seen from close range through glass as they head to the court from the locker room, we were conscious of creating a "runway" to highlight the main players. The radially spreading line lighting on the ceiling and the vector graphics on the floor that draw an arc and indicate the line of movement act as a Spatial Production device to heighten the sense of exhilaration for users, and we designed a space that makes the experience here even more special.
Issues/Themes This is a lounge that is almost unprecedented in Japan, and there is no benchmark for what kind of space we should aim for, so we designed it in a way that clearly conveys the characteristics and value of this place to users.
Space Solution/Realization After careful Spatial Production and repeated verification of the functional layout to clarify the main focus, we created a space that directly expresses an impactful production and a spatial design that enhances the sense of excitement, creating a sense of anticipation for users.By locating the player flow line and the buffet counter opposite each other and connecting them with the space where they stay, we have created a zoning that achieves both the comfort of lounge users and the excitement of players entering and leaving the stadium.
