About the Project

Overview TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO is Japan's premier entertainment complex, themed around sports, mobility, and sustainability, and based on the concept of "Betting on Possibilities." We were involved in creating the spaces in multiple areas, with the aim of developing a new "sports spectator culture" in Japan. The design is based on the idea of "combining the exhilaration of various forms of entertainment, including sports, with a sophisticated, authentic, high-quality feel and the essence of Tokyo," and has created Hospitality Spaces that will satisfy visitors throughout the entire building.

The ARENA SHOP is the first permanent official merchandise shop for Alvark Tokyo, a men's professional basketball team in the B.LEAGUE Division 1, whose home arena is the TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO. Located next to the main entrance, it is easily visible to arena visitors, allowing you to feel the excitement of the arena from the start to the end of the show. The shop is also used for other shows, and plays a role in showing various aspects according to the shows being held at the arena.
Issues/Themes A flexible traffic flow plan that can be used for other events as well, and a layout and fixture configuration that takes into consideration the operability of product development.
The goal was to create a design that would allow customers to intuitively experience the world of basketball, spark an interest in basketball, and even turn them into fans of Alvark Tokyo. The narrow floor structure connects the two separate sales areas, promoting sales.
Space Solution/Realization The lighting plan allows for variable color scene settings, making it possible to create different looks to suit a variety of events. The world of basketball is expressed by marking the floor with basketball court lines and using materials for fixtures that are based on the wood used on actual courts.
The world of Alvark Tokyo Spatial Production through original sales fixtures that match items featuring Alvark Tokyo's mascot character "Luke" and sales fixtures that resemble actual player lockers. The player locker fixtures also serve as photo spots, and are designed to appeal to customers on social media.
The layout is streamlined, taking into consideration the shopping and operational flow lines that connect the narrow floor, and by utilizing signage, the excitement of the venue can be felt even while inside the shop.
