About the Project

Overview This exhibition commemorates the completion of the serialization of the popular manga "Golden Kamuy," which depicts a race for survival for a huge amount of buried gold, set in Hokkaido and Sakhalin at the end of the Meiji period.
In addition to over 120 reproductions of illustrations, many related materials such as folk tools that appeared in the work will be on display, creating a space where visitors can come into contact with the "proof of life" of those who took on the battle for the gold and get a real feel for their way of life.
Issues/Themes The aim is to create an exhibition that allows visitors to experience the appeal of the work, which is "the overwhelming realism that comes from the depiction of historical facts and culture backed by meticulous research."
Space Solution/Realization The works are presented in the form of a memoir written by a third party who knew the story at the time. The exhibition is structured to make the viewer feel as if the characters actually existed, expressing the reality of the works.
By exhibiting the materials that Noda Satoru used as models when he was drawing, as well as related materials loaned from museums around the country, alongside his illustrations, we aimed to allow visitors to immerse themselves more deeply in the world of the work in a style similar to visiting a museum.
