Keio Play Forest HUGHUG
(Design category: Opening up children's creativity and the future)
【overview】
Keio Asobi no Mori HUGHUG is an indoor facility that aims to foster the rich growth of children by providing a safe and secure play space surrounded by the warmth of wood against the backdrop of the lush nature of Tama, and featuring play equipment themed around wood education, physical education, and intellectual development that encourages awareness and learning while playing freely.
In addition to providing a place where children can play and move their bodies to their heart's content in a safe and secure environment, we aimed to create a facility that would increase children's interest in play, which is currently being lost, and help them develop their individuality through play by creating opportunities and time for parents and children to share play together, and by providing high-quality play that they can engage in independently.
In a large indoor space where parents and children can get active to their heart's content regardless of the weather, we have created separate areas for each age group, from toddlers to elementary school students, to enjoy. Instead of pre-existing toys and play equipment, we have designed original toys and play equipment that take into consideration wood education, physical education and intellectual development and arranged them in a way appropriate for each age group, creating a facility where children can learn and discover new things while playing.
