About the Project

Overview Sukagawa City, which was devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake, has established the Sukagawa City Communication Center tette, a complex with a library, childcare support, etc., as a symbol of the revival of civic culture and to revitalize the city center. Within the center, a museum has been created as a fitting symbol of the revival, focusing on director Eiji Tsuburaya, a native of the city, and shedding light on his life of perseverance in the face of adversity, and the special effects culture full of dreams and innovation.
Issues/Themes In addition to honoring the achievements of director Eiji Tsuburaya, known as the god of special effects, the festival aims to teach children the importance of learning and the joy of taking on challenges, and to inspire the next generation with big dreams.
Space Solution/Realization With the goal of "integrating exhibits and books," books that fit the theme are arranged in accordance with the exhibits. Fictional academic subjects such as "Phantom Biology" are set up to connect the world of special effects with the real world, allowing children to learn about everyday life from special effects and fantasy science. The original Video "Godzilla Appears in Sukagawa" allows citizens to participate. Through participation in the production of the exhibits, the museum aims to be "a museum that citizens will remember and feel attached to."

Planning

Yoshitaka Aguni

We are involved in planning in a wide range of fields, with a focus on museums. We value the "narrative" aspect of finding stories from objects, people, and themes, and building new concepts, while giving shape to what our clients truly want to communicate.
