About the Project

Overview This large blood donation room is located on the upper floors of the Hankyu Grand Building, offering a panoramic view of Umeda, the center of Osaka.
This project aimed to create a facility where blood donors and staff could all feel comfortable, while also taking on new challenges to attract the next generation of blood donors.
Issues/Themes To propose a safe and comfortable space to accommodate the increasing number of blood donors every year.
To create a topical facility that will attract repeat blood donors and new donors (younger people).
Space Solution/Realization We considered an open layout that would draw in the panoramic views that are a characteristic of the facility, and incorporated a design that aims to ease the tension of the blood donation experience based on the concept of a "villa in the sky."
Spatial Production generate interest in blood donation, we introduced Video content featuring characters and a large entrance objet d'art.
Design for Environment Universal design: To allow wheelchair users to pass through safely, the aisles on the grounds are designed to be wider than the width stipulated in the blood donation guidelines.
