About the Project

Overview Located close to Haneda Airport, the gateway to Japan's skies, "terminal.0 HANEDA" is a research and development center that works to solve the issues facing Haneda Airport, as well as to collaborate with different industries to explore the potential of terminal functions in an era when the concept of transportation has changed. We aim to continue to deploy the results created from scratch at "terminal.0" to each terminal at Haneda Airport, and further to airports across the country and the world.
Issues/Themes To create a demonstration facility where solutions to the various issues facing Haneda Airport can actually be tried out.
We will develop co-working functions that participating companies can use on a daily basis and create a space where they can conduct research and development together.
Space Solution/Realization To ensure that co-creation and demonstration experiments proceed smoothly, we envisioned every process that passengers would experience at the airport and designed an "airport mockup" that simply reproduces various airport functions. The unfinished interior, which eliminates excess and strips down functions to the bare minimum, is based on the spatial concept of an "atelier," which is neither an office nor a lab, and is a statement of intent that all project participants will build the airport from scratch, creating the airport of the future with their own hands.
