About the Project

Overview Odakyu Electric Railway's first permanent exhibition facility opened next to Ebina Station with the concept of "a railway museum that can be enjoyed by both children and adults." As one of the exhibits, we created a railway diorama in which successive Romancecars and commuter trains race by. It is a huge diorama (approximately 190 m2) that offers a panoramic view of the cityscape along the line from Shinjuku to Hakone, and the railway is reproduced in HO gauge, the cityscape is reproduced in an elaborate and realistic way, and you can enjoy a variety of miniatures and the ever-changing scenery along the line.
Issues/Themes Using the keywords "Travel, Life, Romance Car," we aim to promote the Romance Car, the quadruple track project, and the appeal of the towns along the line.
Space Solution/Realization The layout, lighting, and color scheme of the railways, towns, and terrain were developed to highlight the appeal of scenes such as Romancecars and commuter trains speeding by, overtaking on quadruple tracks, and cityscapes with clearly defined characteristics for each area. Scenes that are sometimes humorous, such as a hero climbing the wall of a skyscraper or a probe heading for an asteroid, are sprinkled throughout the production, making for an enjoyable Spatial Production wherever you look.
Design for Environment We took great care in the shape and dimensions of the handrails to ensure that small children can view the dioramas safely, while at the same time preventing them from unintentionally entering the dioramas.
