Providing the experience of enjoying mentaiko as a base for cultivating fans
Photo: Toshihisa Ishii (TOSHIHISA ISHII) Video: Cosmo Space Co., Ltd.
Overview | The new base of Yamaya Communications, which promotes Kyushu's exciting food culture with a focus on communication creation. The facility combines a new factory that consolidates four old factories, an open head office that promotes active interaction, a factory tour area to welcome customers, a restaurant, and a market. The area where customers can enjoy "learning," "eating," and "shopping" can also be used by employees to eat freely and for company events. It is a new experiential communication facility where diverse people come and go, and where co-creation and growth continue to be born. |

Issues/Themes | To create a place that embodies a sense of familiarity and excitement through tours, food and drink, and merchandise sales, and that will turn people into Yamaya fans. To communicate Yamaya's vision of "revitalizing Kyushu through food and promoting it both domestically and internationally" in an easy-to-understand way to both children and adults. |
Space Solution/Realization | We implemented a consistent system that covered everything from planning, Design, Layout, Production, Construction, system and content production to operational support for the factory tour area, restaurant and overall market, to bring the concept to life. The space is designed to be exciting and comfortable, with a pale mentaiko color and natural wood texture. The exhibition explanations, Digital Contents and Video are all created with original illustrations. Embodying fun and familiarity, we have incorporated various ideas throughout the exhibition to make both children and adults want to explore. |
Design for Environment | 3R design: Some of the exhibition panels are made using wood from Sasaguri Town. Universal design: Fixtures and terminals are installed at a height that takes into consideration wheelchair users and children. Graphics, signs, and Video (some) are written in Japanese and English, and a multilingual translation system is in place. Safety design: Consideration has been given to safety aspects such as preventing fixtures and furniture from falling over and rounding the table tops. |
