About the Project

Overview "HANASAKA" is the foundation of Yanmar's culture, which is based on "believing in people's potential" and "supporting people's challenges," and is the Yanmar value that was at the root of the founder's spirit and vision. "HANASAKA SQUARE," which was born on the first basement floor of "YANMAR TOKYO," a complex near Tokyo Station that attracts many people from all over the country, is an event space where you can enjoy an open space supervised by Kashiwa Sato. The facility also has an experiential gallery and a store where you can enjoy rice, and Yanmar's efforts to reduce environmental impact and create a food culture will help spread the word about "HANASAKA."
Issues/Themes To verbalize and visualize the concept of "HANASAKA," the values that have been passed down since Yanmar's founding, and to communicate it in an easy-to-understand way to the many visitors who visit, allowing them to experience it for themselves.
Space Solution/Realization The installation, which makes use of the entire atrium space to express the concept of "HANASAKA," is made up of a total of 20 different parts and approximately 6,000 cherry blossom petals layered over one another. This complex artwork was designed using programming with BIM (※) software and was realized in collaboration with the architectural team.
"HANASAKA STAND" presents people who embody "HANASAKA" and their activities Video, allowing visitors to experience it in an easy-to-understand way.
The Yanmar Rice Gallery on the first floor is an experiential gallery that promotes the appeal of rice, a part of Japanese food culture. The spatial design uses rice straw, a sustainable material that symbolizes circulation in agriculture, in pursuit of an environmentally friendly, sustainable design.
*BIM: Building Information Modeling is a solution that uses a database of buildings, which are made by adding attribute data such as costs, finishes, and management information to a 3D digital model of a building created on a computer, to utilize information in every process from architectural design and construction to maintenance.
Design for Environment 3R design: The spatial design is environmentally friendly by using sustainable materials such as rice straw, which symbolizes circulation in agriculture, and washi paper.
